Federal Firefighters and Emergency Medical Response
Story by SSgt John Paramadilok, USMCR
Giving medical aid is one of the many job functions and responsiblities as a Federal Firefighter. The San Diego Young Marines had an opportunity to observe and see, first-hand, some of the tools and equipment utilized on board an ambulance that services military facilities. Federal Firefighters Horton and Fowler demonstrated the use of devices that help sustain life as well as the equipment that transport people to the ambulance, which will then take them to the hospital to receive the necessary medical attention. The Young Marines also had a chance to sit in the back of the ambulance to see how things work and what the Federal Firefighters do as first medical responders.
